Leadership Development Programme
“Your first and foremost job as a leader is to take charge of your own energy and then to help orchestrate the energy of those around you" (Peter F Drucker, Management Consultant)

This 12 month in-depth transformational leadership development programme addresses a broad leadership development agenda. It provides an opportunity to explore and examine deeply held values, beliefs and motivational dynamics, for those currently in, or stepping into, leadership positions.

Team development and coaching
“Endless drama in a group clouds consciousness. Too much noise overwhelms the senses. Continual input obscures genuine insight….When group members have time to reflect, they can see more clearly what is essential in themselves and others. (John Heider, The Tao of Leadership)
Grand Shearman have worked extensively in team development for the last 18years. In that time the importance of teams to organisational performance has become ever higher. At the same time, many teams have become global and/or virtual, with constantly changing membership. Pressures to deliver results quickly have intensified.
We have found that short, targeted interventions over a period of time recognise the reality of the team context. These include:
On-site input within the team’s routine meeting structures
Observation of real time teamwork, and “in the moment” coaching
Individual discussions with team members
Off-site development workshops.
Typical objectives include:
How to sustain a high performing team
How to build a high performing team
How a new group can become a team as quickly as possible.
Organisational change
Two myths about leaders:
All progress comes from the actions of enlightened leaders
All the horrors of humanity come from demonic leadership
Both are comforting because they absolve us of responsibility. All progress actually comes from the messy, impudent and relentless pushback of system members.
(Barry Oshry, Seeing Systems)
Effective change in organisations needs an approach that takes the whole system into account, all its constituent parts. We use “Large Group Intervention” methodologies, which involve a representative cross-section of the system, or the whole system. The group works on change issues, anywhere from forty to four hundred people in the same room for a period of time, typically one to two days.
These methods are supplemented by more traditional approaches including organisational research, facilitation, workshops, team and individual development.
Typical contexts include:
Mergers and acquisitions
Organisational restructuring
Culture change
Assessment Services
“Don’t bring things to a painful point” (The Mind Training Slogans of Atisha – ancient Buddhist text)
Grand Shearman are independent specialists in individual and group psychometric assessment. Our many years of experience have taught us that assessment is not a simple, mechanical process. Rather, it is a complex evaluation that requires a collaborative and respectful exploration with the participant. Keeping this philosophy in mind, we offer:
a comprehensive suite of one day evaluation programmes for selection, development, and career review;
a tailored service to develop the most appropriate form of assessment for your needs;
design, development and implementation of assessment and development centres.
